During my internship at Deeplocal, I worked on the concepting, research and design components of various client projects. At the same time, my fellow interns and I conducted internal consulting and design-thinking based research to create various artifacts for the purpose of improving office life and culture. Additionally, we created a front-facing website to represent Deeplocal's official "Shop Class" internship program.

Disclaimer: Due to a non-disclosure agreement between myself, Deeplocal, and their clients, there is a limited amount of information I can share about what I did while working there. CLIENT: DEEPLOCAL
ROLE: DESIGNER, PHOTOGRAPHER
DELIVERABLES: WEB DESIGN, DOCUMENTATION, ETC.

THE TIME GARDEN

The Time Garden was one of the intern projects we conducted, where we tried turning the mundane task of filling out timesheets into a fun experience that had creative, explicit output. This robotic garden listens for employees filling in their timesheets on Quickbooks, watering their plants daily if they do, and holding back if they don't. This was a fun project which I had the pleasure of documenting, filming, and then collaborating with Robyn Lambert to produce the final video promoting our project.

DEEPLOCAL SHOP CLASS WEBSITE

Being the first "official" intern class of Deeplocal, Michelle Partogi and I decided it was time to update the Shop Class website for the next recruiting season. Taking inspiration from the many projects we undertook and the spirit of our intern class, we created a showcase of all the things that we as interns did (within our NDAs) as well as a 'hall of fame' for the alumni of the program. We hoped that with this new look for the intern program, more students would be inspired by our passion for the Deeplocal team, and be intrigued to join.

INTERNAL CONSULTING

When the interns we were tasked with the prompt for their Intern Project, "Help improve office communications", we decided to go a step further and think first before we went off making things. This included rounds of in-depth research, interviews, surveys, and other methods in an attempt to figure out ways to improve internal office culture. The results of those findings culminated into deliverables:

DELIVERABLE 1

Consolidating a bunch of scattered documents into a cohesive, internal onboarding portal to help new hires get situated as quickly and seamlessly as possible

DELIVERABLE 2

A deck of our insights and recommendations gathered from the research process.

INTERESTED IN HEARING ABOUT MY CLIENT-FACING WORK?

There's a lot more that I did during the internship, some of which I can't publicly talk about. But perhaps you would like to hear about how I conducted market research on aromatechnologies for a client, or what my response was for the internship application challenge? If so, drop me a line!
